Firestorm 2007

So for the last 3 days we have been evacuating from house to house avoiding the fires that hit San Diego. Amazingly our house survived and we were able to return home today. Several homes were burned in the neighborhood but it was quite the adventure ... anyways what a couple of days this turned out to be.

Good news ... Lulu got a job offer from RSM and possibly another with EY.

Classes have started

So I started my classes for Boston University and so far the class is going pretty well. I received an A for my discussion and A- on my homework assignment. Not bad considering I messed up and thought I had an extra day to turn in my homework. As far as the course content, I am reading a bunch of articles from the Harvard Business school and MIT Sloan school.

Some of my classmates are pretty good but others are well ... not the best at explaining themselves. Anyways onto week 3 so only 4 more weeks to go. Learning quite a bit .... who knows maybe an MBA in the future.

Classes have started

Well I am back to being a college student. On Tuesday I started my first class Information Technology and strategy management. It is rather fast paced with lots of reading and writing. There are quite a few assignments that have to be completed in such a short amount of time. The whole process of online learning requires that you have quite a discipline and perseverance.

Anyways gots to do the home work ..

Accepted

Yup it happened. Yesterday at 10:02 am I received an email from Boston University saying welcome. I guess all the hard work with the resume, goals statement and letters of recommendation did it. Not sure but as a Coleman College graduate it was hit or miss as far as being accepted into the program.

So Dang Tired

I went back to work this week and I have discovered two things, 1. It's a whole lot harder taking care of a baby. 2. I am so tired it's not even funny.

Anyways I am trying to get back into my normal routine. Unfortunately for me, I cannot run as well as I did before, I don't have the same energy from before, and I still have so much to do as far as completing my application for school.

I should be mailing out my application by early next week to Boston University. I am hoping that they see me as the type of student they want and accept. We shall see...

Oh check out the pics of Justin at the other blog.

The Big Cut

Yesterday poor Justin never knew it but he got circumcised. It turned out to be a quick 15 minute procedure that he may or may not remember. As for me, apparently the last time a father was inside the operating room, he passed out. Imagine that haha well that's all we need to say about that.

Other news, I got moved up another division in racquetball to the blue division. Not bad for someone who has been playing for about a year. I like the sport and the exercise it gives me.

Also trying to get into a masters program right now. Unfortunately due to some unforeseen decisions 7 years back, my BS is not as acceptable as one from National University. What a crock. Well all I can do is hope that my plea for conditional admittance will be acknowledged by the powers that be.

Pretty Tired

Well it seems like its any day or probably closer to hours til Justin Quach comes into this world. Lulu has her several contractions come and go but so far nothing so steady that we would be heading to the hospital. I guess its a matter of time ... just waiting, so that we can grab our things and head on to the hospital.

Picked up Mother-in-law

Today we picked up my Mother-in-law from LAX. She took a 12 hour flight from Beijing to Los Angeles. It was quite a journey for her to travel from her hometown by train for 10 hours, then flew on a place for 12 hours. We are rather excited ... More on this later.

Dinner at Rancho Valencia

This week is restaurant week in San Diego. So for the restaurant this year, we chose the Rancho Valencia at the Rancho Valencia Spa & Resort. Talk about a nice and swanky place. The menu was pretty good, filet mignon, crab cakes, grilled ahi, and vanilla creme brulee for some of us.

The trip to get there was quite stressful to say the least. Sometimes, having gps may help or not. GPS systems know that roads exists but they don't realize sometimes those roads have gates on them. Anyways what should have been a 20 minute drive turn into the 40 minute boondoggle. After much tension between my dad and I, we finally arrived at the restaurant.

Luckily the food was pretty good and we all had a pretty good time. The final bill came out to 320 with tax and tips. I guess next year, we should really map out the roads a little better.

Finally 2007

Well it's been awhile since I have put any new blogs up. Well just a little update, sometime in February/March we will be getting a small addition to the family.

Yup Justin Quach will grace us with his presence. So these last couple of weeks we have been busy with getting Justin's room setup. We purchased for him furniture from Babys R Us. Turns out we got a really good deal from the place. Pictures will be coming soon.

On January 28, we will be picking up my mother-in-law from LAX International. I look forward to her cooking and presence. Finally someone who agrees with me instead of Lulu.

Next month will get busier with Lulu trying to get all her grad school applications turned in. She has applied at UCLA, Stanford, USC, and SDSU. It will be tough while she is in school but we'll tough it out til she comes home in 2 years.
